Ball Of The Foot Pain Remedies

Ball Of The Foot Pain Remedies

Are you experiencing ball of the foot pain?

Did it start after running, jumping, or wearing improper fitting shoes?

Does it hurt to walk, much less jog or run?

This could potentially be caused by a condition called metatarsalgia.

There are a few remedies that you can try to see if they relieve some of the pain.

We have listed some of those ball of foot pain relief remedies below:

Take A Break

Take a break from running and try some low impact exercises, such as bike riding and swimming.

Apply Ice

Apply ice to the area that is hurting you. The pain is most likely due to inflammation and the ice will help to reduce the swelling and provide some relief.

Over The Counter Pain Medication

Pain relievers available over the counter such as ibuprofen, naproxen sodium, or aspirin can help with inflammation and the pain (always consult your doctor before taking any medications).

Wear Proper Shoes

Wear proper fitting shoes and shoes that are also designed for the activity that you are doing. Example: running shoes are not good for weightlifting as they do not provide enough stability…and you shouldn’t wear basketball shoes to run in, etc…

Also, make sure to purchase the proper running shoes for your foot and stride. You can also utilize shock absorbing or arch inserts to help cushion the shock and help to minimize the stress on your metatarsal bones of your feet. If you need assistance in choosing the correct footwear, come in and see us. We will help you in determining which type of shoe is best for you.

We want you to be able to participate in any activities you wish, without pain or discomfort in your feet and ankles. This can also affect your legs and lower back.
